Victoria Regal II point-to-point, hand-wired amplifier!  The Regal is an original Victoria design loosely based on the amplifiers manufactured by the Valco Co. (Valco, Supro, National) in the 1950's and 1960's.

NOTE: this is the latest model Regal II with the upgraded two (2) output tube power supply and upgraded Weber AlNiCo 15" speaker!  It is not the early model with the single power tube and Eminence 15" speaker.

Power Tube Choices!

The Regal is powered by ONE OR TWO 6L6GC output (power) tubes in single ended Class A operation, which offers amazingly complex tones that are rich in even-order harmonics!  The Regal ships from the factory with two 6L6 type tubes (currently Tung-Sol 5881's).  The heart of the Regal' powerfully expressive output section is its reactive output transformer, which is essentially two output transformers wound on a single stack relating to a common secondary winding.  The bifilar interleaved windings are engineered to provide correct load for virtually any ONE OR TWO octal power tubes, including 6V6, 6L6, EL34 and all of their variants, with no modifications or biasing needed!  Each output tube can be thought of as a discreet power unit, operating completely independently of each other.  Said again, ANY common octal power tube can be used in the Regal, in any combination, ONE or TWO!  Since each of these output tubes provide different characteristics, such as power output, sound and even pick attack, this provides the player with an almost unlimited pallet of tone at their fingertips with just a handful of different output tubes!

Do you like the midrange complexity and "sweet" high end response of a 6V6, but also the superior low end focus and superb clarity and transparency of the 6L6?  No problem, just run one of each in the Regal at the same time!

Output Power Examples (Approximate):

1x 6V6 = 5-watts output

2x 6V6 = 10-watts output

1x 6L6 = 7 to 12-watts

2x 6L6 = 14 to 24-watts

2x EL34 = up to 35-watts

Rectifier Tube Choices!

The Regal ships from the factory with a single 5U4GB rectifier tube.  But, as with the output tubes, you can simply swap it out with your choice of a 5U4GB, 5AR4/GZ34, 5V4 or 5Y3!  The 5U4GB is known as a workhorse rectifier known for its durability and smooth dynamics.  For a faster, more powerful response, simply plug in a 5AR4/GZ34.  For a lower power attack with more sag, a 5V4 or 5Y3 can be employed.  Even modern solid state diode "plug-in" rectifiers with work fine for even less sag.

The Regal's controls are Volume, Treble, Bass, Reverb, Speed and Intensity.  The Regal is very lively and revealing tonally, and at approximately 5 to 35-watts, is more than enough power for practice, home use, recording, or small to medium size gigs.  The foot-switchable reverb and tremolo effects are first rate!  The reverb is rich and lush enough to make Dick Dale smile!  The tremolo effect is achieved by modulating the bias of the driver tube, like the Trem d'la Trem amp, the silky smooth tremolo can be enjoyed at any volume level.  One special designed Weber AlNiCo 15" speakers is now Victoria's driver of choice, chosen for its solid response, warm tone, tight lows, and sparkling highs.  This amp's tones are big and open, with a seamless overdriven note -- thanks to the elegant simplicity of its design and the smooth class A output section.  Warm bass tones and deep mid-range are offered up with a nice upper frequency sparkle, while the natural breakup when driven hard is sweet and warm.  Victoria's Regal is covered in Vanilla Tolex with Brown acoustatone Grill Cloth in a TV-Front solid pine cabinet.  A classic look and tone!
