The THD BiValve is the long awaited big
brother to the hugely successful UniValve
amplifier, which has been called "... one of the
world's ultimate studio amplifiers." by Guitarist Magazine.
The THD BiValve is an American made, Class-A
single-ended, 30-watt, tube amplifier, with a built-in
THD Hot Plate power attenuator, Line Out and selectable output
impedance selector.
The BiValve is designed with a self-biasing
circuit that allows you to easily switch the two (2) octal type output tubes at
will, for an amazing breadth of different tones, without re-biasing the amp.
Usable tubes include EL34, 6L6, 5881, 6550, 7027, KT90, KT88, KT77 and KT66, for
a nominal output or 30-watts RMS. With the amp set to the "LoV" setting you can also use
two
6V6 tubes for a total output of around 10-watts. EL84 output tubes may also be used
with the purchase of the THD YJUni Yellow Jacket
adaptors.
The two preamp tubes may also be easily switched with any combination of
12AX7, 12AT7, 12AU7, 12AY7 and 12AZ7 dual triode preamp tubes, for an even
greater pallet of complex tone capabilities.
From smooth, clear and clean country type
tones to very aggressive, over-driven Marshall type tones ... this little amp
does it all!
The special "Attitude" control determines how the driver stage responds to
the signal and how it drives the power tube, allowing you the flexibility to
tweak your tone.
The BiValve is designed with a "HiV/LoV"
switch, which reduces the voltage to the tubes, somewhat like a Variac. In
the LoV setting, power is reduced by about half, pick attach is slowed, the feel
is more "elastic" and the amp has more "bloom". Again, more flexible tone
options for the player, at just a touch of a switch.
The built-in Hot Plate power attenuator
allows you to further tweak your tone, by allowing you to drive the tube to full
saturation, while reducing or "attenuating", the output power to lower levels to
better fit small recording or playing applications.
The transformer-isolated Line Out and selectable 2, 4, 8 and 16-ohm output
impedance switch, allows you the external connection capability for almost any
application.
Simple user controls, unbelievable
flexibility, multiple complex tone capability and 30 LOUD watts makes the
THD BiValve THE
perfect amplifier for recording studios, small to medium size venues or session
applications where a higher output wattage and almost unlimited tone flexibility are required in a
single amp!
